Living Hope Children’s Home

Second and third from left: Directors Luis and Alejandra Aguilar came to EV Matamoros in 2017. Back right: Diego has been in the home as a student for a long time.  We attended his 2017 graduation.  He’s now a dorm supervisor. Lorena (on right) is the cook. Most of the children in this photo are from one family; 8 of 10 siblings live at EV.

Casa Hogar Esperanza Viva  (EV)

Every HERO Maker team visited Esperanza Viva at least twice during their week in Mexico, preparing and serving dinner and enjoying fun fellowship and games with the children.

The children were educated on-site.  Celebrating their scholastic achievements and graduation was one of our favorite special occasions to attend in the summer if we were in the region. Over the years we’ve enjoyed watching the children grow up.

We first met our friends at Esperanza Viva when HERO Makers began working with nearby Hogar de Niños Angeles de Dios. Our teams stayed at the A.I.M. Gateway missions base just across the field from EV.

Because the ministry did not own their own property, most of the projects HERO Makers has done to help EV are health related repairs, or comfort additions such as building new beds and adding extra lighting and ceiling fans in the large common area.  HERO Makers helped EV acquire a large Gravely ride-on mower to take care of the multitude of acres that need to be maintained.

Ten acres of undeveloped land were donated to EV to build a new home for the children within 4 years of the donation.  In 2020 EV’s parent organization decided to close the Matamoros campus and moved most of the children to their large facility in Puebla, Mexico.

We will miss our friends.
