Open to Families and Adults:
We will be staying and serving at a great children’s home just across the border from Texas near Matamoros, Big Heart Matamoros, (formally Hogar de Niños Angeles de Dios). This is not a youth trip. Children must be accompanied by at least one parent and must have graduated from third grade. Children participate in all team activities alongside their parents: working on projects, preparing and serving meals, worship and devotion times, and playing with the fun children of the home.
Meet in Harlingen, TX:
Team members assemble at the designated staging area near Harlingen, Texas in the early afternoon of 6/18/25. Once on the move, the HERO Makers team will travel about 25 minutes heading for the international crossing bridge. We’ll stop along the way on the U.S. side to enjoy a nice meal and pick up anything you’ve forgotten to pack. One more quick drive and we’ll cross the Rio Grande River into Mexico. From that point, it’s just a short 15 minute drive east to the Big Heart, situated on a 27-acre ranch out in the country west of Matamoros.

For all returning from recent trips, please send an email to us and we will put your name on the trip list below. Then proceed to follow trip fee instructions.
Before You Book Plane Tickets:
If you fly in, HERO Makers will meet you at the airport and bring you to the assembly area. If you are driving in, please contact Rocky or Bob for our gathering location and target arrival time. These are the targets for booking flights to/from Harlingen airport (HRL): Plan to arrive no later than 1PM into HRL on June 18th, and plan to depart no earlier than 12 noon from HRL on June 24th. For other cities or arrangements, please contact us first before booking flights. When you have your flight or travel arrangements, please send an email to us !
Accommodations:
Our team will stay in the Guest Workers’ dorm built by HERO Makers right on the Big Heart property. BHM will be our base as we serve and work on our projects there.
Trip Fees:
From Harlingen your trip fee includes all ground transportation to and from Mexico, team meals, logistics and accommodations, daily team t-shirts, Sunday’s polo shirt, and a travel duffle bag (for 1st timers) for your gear. You will be provided with a packing list when you register for the trip.

Trip fees for adults (18 and over) are $600 if mailed in, and $618 if paid online.

Trip fees for children (graduated 3rd grade and above) are $450 if mailed, $465 if paid online.
